Coldwell Banker United, Realtors grows in Columbia after merger with fellow large agency

Pauline Bennett oversees Coldwell Banker United, Realtors operations in the Carolinas, including greater Charleston.

The two largest residential real estate agencies in the Columbia market joined up to form a blockbuster business with more than $1 billion in sales volume as of 2015.

Coldwell Banker United, Realtors added Russell & Jeffcoat Real Estate of Columbia. Coldwell Banker parent NRT LLC announced the deal in March.

Russell & Jeffcoat Real Estate boasts 12 offices and more than 400 affiliated sales associates. NRT’s operations in the Carolinas do business under the banner of Coldwell Banker United, Realtors and total 200 agents and four offices in the Columbia area, the company says. Coldwell Banker United also counts 200 associates in Charleston and Aiken and another 200 in North Carolina. As separate agencies, Coldwell Banker United, Realtors and Russell & Jeffcoat Real Estate accounted for more than $1 billion in sales volume in 2015, according to Multiple Listing Service figures. Combined, they will have “more than 1,000 affiliated sales associates serving homebuyers and sellers in the Carolinas,” the company says.

“The Carolinas is an important growth market for us, and having Russell & Jeffcoat as part of the NRT family further solidifies our leadership there,” says Kate Rossi, executive vice president of NRT’s Southeast region. “Russell & Jeffcoat has an excellent reputation, strong leadership and very talented agents, and we look forward to their continued business growth.”

Pauline Bennett, president of Coldwell Banker United, Realtors in the Carolinas, “will expand her role to also oversee Russell & Jeffcoat Real Estate as president,” NRT says. Ron Roe, former Russell & Jeffcoat Real Estate president and chief executive, will zero in on the company’s combined operations in Columbia in a “newly expanded role” as regional senior vice president, the company says.

“This announcement positions the No. 1 residential real estate brokerage in Columbia to be part of the No. 1 residential real estate brokerage in the nation, and I personally take great pride in that,” Roe says.

Last April, NRT acquired Coldwell Banker United, Realtors with operations in South Carolina, North Carolina, Florida and Texas.

NRT LLC calls itself the nation’s largest residential real estate brokerage company, totaling 790 offices and 47,000 independent sales associates. NRT is the subsidiary of Realogy, which operates all company-owned real estate brokerage offices.
