An underappreciated perk for tenants can simply be landing a property in a quiet neighborhood.

Not that every renter wants things to be peaceful all the time. Many prefer at least a little whooping and hollering to show there’s activity, whether at the swimming pool in an apartment village or kids playing along a neighborhood street.

But if finding a place that’s somewhat secluded is important, then one such duplex on an out-of-the-way avenue not far from the Ashley River maybe a possibility.

The 950-square-foot home, with three bedrooms and one-and-a-half baths, is at 1753B Skinner Ave. west of the Ashley. It is for lease for $800 a month.

According to Dan Wheeler, who is handling the lease, the property is on a “quiet dead end street nestled among oak trees and azaleas.”

The duplex comes with a host of interior features than blend in with the landscaped yard outside.

A large family room attracts lots of light from “a wall of windows.” The living quarters opens into the dining room and includes a storage closet.

Another attraction is a full bathroom with “freshly glazed” tub and shower combination and tile floors.

A white paneled bedroom, one of two guest rooms, looks out on a sizable palmetto tree, Wheeler says.

Also sporting ample views is the master bedroom, which looks out on a spacious backyard, he says. The master suite includes a half bath.

Features of the kitchen span from a walk-in pantry to plenty of cabinets and other storage. The cooking area likewise is light-filled, with a window above the sink that overlooks the backyard. A washer and dryer is included; It’s tucked away off the main part of the house.

The property includes a fenced yard, but no pets are permitted.

According to Wheeler, another highlight of the rental is it’s less than six miles from downtown and to MUSC and the College of Charleston. Skinner Avenue is a short street off Wappoo Road, with Savannah Highway a few blocks to the north and the Ashley River a mile to two to the south on Wappoo.

The property for rent is in a residential neighborhood. Traveling south, take U.S. Highway 17 (Savannah Highway) for about three miles from the Ashley River Bridge. Turn left at the traffic light on Wappoo Road. Take the fifth left, which is on Skinner Avenue. Ahead is 1753B Skinner Ave.
