2037 Asher Loop — Newer home in Legend Oaks benefits from removed lot, modern interior and neighborhood amenities at a bargain price

Homes in built-out communities tend to wind up with houses on the left and right, across the street and in many cases, to the back.

That’s why they’re called neighborhoods; homeowners at their leisure can interact with plenty of neighbors.

Living with residences next door can be desired, notably by families and outgoing people who like the feeling of familiarity.

At the same time, some buyers may want a little more privacy. They aren’t being aloof but desire ample space around them. One way to find these lots is to scout out houses on street corners or homes that sport vacant land on at least one side.

A house in Legend Oaks just west of Summerville fits the profile, and then some. The Dorchester County property, at 2037 Asher Loop, sits at the end of the road. There’s a residence on the south side and one at an angle across the street. The north side offers an extra-large grassy expanse, which extends to common green space along the curved street. The area beyond the fenced backyard is open also.

“It’s really very private,” says Pam Lightfoot, associate with AgentOwned Realty who is listing 2037 Asher Loop for $238,500. The house, which the Realtor says has a “motivated seller,” went on the market in January.

The two-story, 2,267-square-foot home would suit an older couple who likes to entertain guests and doesn’t mind climbing a flight of stairs: All the bedrooms are on the second floor. It also would be fitting for a family, what with three bedrooms and two-and-a-half baths. The previous owner was “a couple with two children and one on the way,” she says.

A visual highlight of the 9-year-old home is the top-notch outdoors layout. A screened-in porch opens onto the large back lawn. The porch and deck provide “plenty of room for barbecue (and) entertainment.” Meanwhile, the yard is beautifully landscaped, she says.

“You’ve got a great backyard with a buffer,” Lightfoot says.

The open interior floor plan, too, offers scores of attractions. Hardwood floors and crown molding mark the first level. The living room, which flows off the kitchen, showcases a good-sized fireplace and, above the hearth, a built-in flat screen television. The adjacent dining room touts columns at its entrance and a tray ceiling.

Another spotlight of 2037 Asher Loop is the modern kitchen.

“This has all been updated,” she says. Standout features include new tile backsplash; a center island; and stainless steel stove, dishwasher, microwave and refrigerator yielding an icemaker and water dispenser.

Meanwhile, a laundry marries the kitchen to the two-car garage.

It’s not just the ground floor that shows off attractions.

“Upstairs is beautiful,” Lightfoot says.

A second level master suite presents “nice views” of forests and homes, as well as a large bedroom and the upscale bathroom serving up a garden tub, separate shower, double vanity sink and roomy closet.

The house could claim four bedrooms, but the spacious bonus space doesn’t have a closet. Other perks are broad bedrooms at the top of the stairs and toward the middle of the second floor and a bathroom serving them.

A one-year warranty protects the house as does a termite bond.

The Legend Oaks location is enticing, what with neighborhood attractions such as a golf course, country club and swimming pool.

Still, the home itself is a major advantage, offering curb appeal as well as a landscaped treasure off the screened-in porch.

“Everybody loves the backyard,” Lightfoot says.

The house sits at a bend on Asher Loop. From the southeast, take Interstate 26 west to exit 209B, which is Ashley Phosphate Road. Turn left onto Ashley Phosphate and continue to Dorchester Road. Steer right on Dorchester Road and follow it to Bacon’s Bridge Road. Make a left on Bacon’s Bridge and cross the Ashley River. Turn right on S.C. Highway 61, then right into Legend Oaks just past Beech Hill Elementary School. Wind through the neighborhood to Asher Loop. On the left is 2037 Asher Loop. Or, from West Ashley, take Highway 61 all the way to Legend Oaks.
