CLEMSON – Offensive tackle Max Garcia is transferring from Maryland and Clemson is interested in signing him, according to reports.
Maryland coach Randy Edsall lifted transfer restrictions on Garcia, quarterback Danny O’Brien and linebacker Mario Rowson on Wednesday, following days of negative media attention following Edsall’s initial decision not to allow the trio of players to transfer to Vanderbilt or a school that would play Maryland.
On Wednesday Edsall lifted all restrictions meaning the three players could transfer to Vanderbilt or an ACC school.
Garcia was considering Clemson in 2010 before signing with Maryland. The 6-foot-4, 290-pound Garcia started 12 games at left tackle for Maryland last season. Clemson needs help along its offensive line after graduating three starting offensive linemen.
