Michael C. Pearce has joined the board of directors of Evening Post Industries Inc., the Charleston-based company announced last week.
Pearce was chairman from 2010 to 2014 of Pernix Therapeutics Holdings, a specialty pharmaceutical business that raised $65 million from investors last year. He also served as CEO from May 2013 to February 2014 to oversee a corporate reorganization at the $1 billion public company.
Pearce is a past principal of Relevant Therapeutics LLC. He also is majority shareholder of Hatteras Equity, an acquirer of distressed real estate in coastal North Carolina, and Range Therapeutics LLC, a development stage agriculture technology company.
From 2007 to 2010, Pearce led the repositioning of Charleston-based Golf Trust of America Inc. as chairman and CEO of the publicly traded real estate investment company. The Mount Pleasant resident attended Southern Methodist University.

Evening Post Industries is the parent company of The Post and Courier. It also is the owner of other newspapers, television stations, a hospice services provider, a marketing agency, timber investments and real estate in downtown Charleston.
