A maker and distributor of inks and other commercial coating products has acquired a North Charleston property to accommodate a $1 million expansion.
Marabu North America recently bought a 26,144-square-foot office and warehouse building at 2460-A Remount Road for $1.55 million. The sale closed in late January, Charleston County land records show.
The multinational business experienced significant growth last year, fueling the need for more space and resources, said Bob Keller, general manager. The investment will include the addition of more laboratory space, a conference center and a training facility.
“We’re always keeping an eye to the future but our recent growth rate has exceeded our expectations,” Keller said in a statement. “We are excited about the building purchase as this will afford us the opportunity to upgrade and expand our labs while adding a conference and training center for our customers, co-suppliers and employees.”
Marabu North America is the North Charleston-based U.S. subsidiary of Germany’s Marabu GmbH & Co., a global manufacturer of screen, digital and pad printing inks. The company employs more than 440 workers worldwide. Its local office operated under the name Clearstar LP until 2011.
