The Charleston area’s apartment market continues to sizzle.
A Jacksonville, Fla.-based general contractor specializing in multi-family, senior housing and mixed-use developments, plans to build a $28.5 million, 269-unit complex in seven buildings in Mount Pleasant.
LandSouth Construction will begin work this month on the three- and four-story Oyster Park Apartments on Cassidy Court off Rifle Range Road. A multi-level parking garage will be included. Completion is set for October 2016, according to a statement from the contractor.
Dewberry Capital of Atlanta, the company transforming the former Mendel Rivers Federal Building on Meeting Street in Charleston into a 161-unit hotel, is the developer.
“Oyster Park will truly offer an upscale, urban lifestyle, including apartment homes above storefronts and within walking to shopping, restaurants and other retail,” said Joe Passkiewicz, LandSouth’s vice president of operations.
In its 16-year history, LandSouth has completed more than 10,000 multifamily units, including apartments, senior living, condominiums and townhomes. The company is currently working on other projects throughout the Southeast, including apartments and mixed-use developments.
“Residents will appreciate the community’s proximity to venues, restaurants and retail shops in Mount Pleasant in addition to nearby downtown Charleston,” said James Pyle, CEO and president of LandSouth Construction.
The 5.3-acre complex will feature studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom apartments, ranging from 589 square feet to 1,023 square feet.
In addition to quartz countertops, the complex will include elevators, a pool, community area, fitness center, bocce ball court and a clubhouse.
The architect is McMillan, Pazdan, Smith of Greenville.
