Armored-vehicle maker Force Protection Inc. said today it will provide the U.S. Marine Corps Systems Command with nearly 1,000 kits to safeguard the fuel tanks on some of its troop carriers.

The work, which is to be completed in Ladson by March 30, is a $16.9 million change to an existing contract.

The 961 kits and tools for Cougar vehicles that Force Protection sold the Marine Corps.

The company previously announced on May 2 an order for 1,130 fuel tank kits valued at $18.8 million.
