K. Earle Powell has been named director of the S.C. Legislative Audit Council. He replaces Perry K. Simpson, who retired. Powell previously was program manager for the Revenue and Fiscal Affairs Office.

Previously, she was a consultant and lead evaluator with the Department of Disabilities and Special Needs-Autism Division. She has a bachelor's degree and master's in social work, both from the University of South Carolina.
