Architecture Kevin Chafin and John Pharis Jr. have joined CEMS Engineering.

Chafin is lead architect. Previously, he was architectural director at Lindbergh & Associates. He has more than 20 years of experience. He has a bachelor’s degree in architecture and a masters degree in architecture from the Savannah College of Art and Design.

Pharis is an architect. He has more than 18 years of experience. Previously, he with Lindbergh & Associates. He has a bachelor’s degree from Louisiana Tech University.

Automobile Edward Sims Floyd Jr. has been named executive vice president of the South Carolina Automobile Dealers Association. Previously, he was the group’s lobbyist and field services director. He has a bachelor’s degree from Auburn University. He succeeds Pat Watson, who retired.

Banking Russ Humphrey has joined First Citizens as a relationship manager based in the Moncks Corner branch. He has more than 10 years of lending and sales experience. Previously, he was a branch manager for Springleaf Financial Services.

Building supplies Ty Babb has joined Buck Lumber & Building Supply as sales manager of the window department. He has more than 17 years of experience. Previously, he was with Pella Window & Door.

Finance Frank Hutto has joined Charleston-based Coastal Financial Planning Group LLC as a financial planner. He is a certified financial planner and has more than 39 years of experience in the financial services industry. He has a bachelor’s degree from Charleston Southern University.

Hospitality Matt Galvin has joined the Charleston Harbor Resort & Marina in the newly created position of special events manager. He has a bachelor’s degree from Colorado State University. Previously, he was founder of Coastal Yacht Charters.

Insurance Margarita Stewart has joined Tibboel Insurance Agency in Mount Pleasant as a customer service representative. She has 11 years experience in the insurance industry.

Law Halsey O. Schreier has joined Smith Moore Leatherwood LLP as an associate attorney in the firm’s Charleston office. Previously, he was with Clawson and Staubes. He has a bachelor’s degree from the University of South Carolina, a law degree from the USC School of Law and a degree in taxation from the New York University School of Law.

Publishing Lauren Hummer, Maggie McMenamin, Gregory Mark and Jesse Darland have joined BiblioLabs as associate curators.

Hummer has a bachelor’s degree in historic preservation and community planning from the College of Charleston and a master’s degree in historic preservation from the University of Vermont.

McMenamin has a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in English from the College of Charleston.

Mark has a bachelor’s degree in history and political science from the University of Delaware.

Darland previously was a web writer and editor for Transylvania University and has degrees in journalism and theater.

Real estate Laurie Langford has joined Carroll Realty Inc. on The Isle of Palms as a sales consultant. She has worked in residential real estate since 2006.
