A blog that tracks event venues has named the Restoration hotel and the Gadsden House in downtown Charleston among the top 100 hottest newcomers.
The Venue Report is geared at wedding and event planners.
The 54-room Restoration marked its formal reopening last week after an expansion and renovation of the five-year-old boutique property at 75 Wentworth St. It is owned by Cincinnati-based Jeffrey R. Anderson Real Estate.
Gadsden House at 329 East Bay St. is listed on the National Historic Register. It has more than 50,000 square feet of reception space, piazzas and a full-service bridal suite.
Luxury Simplified Construction restored and renovated the home last year. The company co-owns the property with King Street Hospitality Group, which manages it.
The Gadsden House’s roots go back more than 200 years. South Carolina statesman Christopher Gadsden built the Ansonborough home late 1700s. The Gadsden family occupied the property until the early 1900s, according to the home’s website.
