Company bringing 200 jobs to Anderson County

ANDERSON, S.C. — A company that makes power tools is expanding its operations in Anderson County in a move that is expected to add more than 200 jobs.

Multiple media outlets report that Techtronic Industries will spend $85 million on a distribution and manufacturing center along Interstate 85 and state Highway 81.

Company officials said Thursday the new plant would help strengthen the company’s offerings in power tools and outdoor products.

The company’s brands include Ryobi, Homelite, Hoover, Orek and Dirt Devil.

Anderson County Council has improved an incentive package that will reduce the company’s taxes for 40 years. State officials have agreed to pay for job training.

The plant is expected to be operational by June 2016. The jobs are expected to pay an average of $20 per hour.
