The city of Charleston is beginning a series of monthly sessions to help new business owners and those thinking about starting one.

The Charleston Business Services Division will host its first New Business Open House from 1-2 p.m. Friday in the first floor public meeting room at the Gaillard Center at 2 George St.

The events are a chance for local entrepreneurs to connect with representatives from city departments to discuss regulations, available services and the overall new-business process. Entrepreneurs also may get information on new business programs.

“These open house-style events will allow us to connect with local entrepreneurs more effectively and ensure that they have the information and the tools they need to thrive as members of our business community," said Jordan Lanier, the city's business services manager. "By holding these sessions monthly, we hope to maintain this line of communication and collaboration with those doing business in Charleston.”
