Charleston ranks as pet-friendly travel destination

On your way to visit Charleston? Word on the web is bring your pet.

GoPetFriendly.com has ranked Charleston as the “Best City for Pet Travelers 2016.”

Charleston came in first in the voting contest, followed by Colorado Springs, Colo. According to the post, the site “received nominations from the loyal fans of 110 cities across the U.S. and Canada.”

In its description of Charleston as the top city for pets, the blog touts the city’s beaches and “pet friendly hotels” and restaurants. The blog also shows a photo of Mayor John Tecklenburg with a couple of golden doodles.

“To celebrate, the GoPetFriendly.com team will be visiting Charleston and experiencing your pet friendliness first hand!” the blog says.
