Charleston hotels ranked high on national list by U.S. News & World Report

The Wentworth Mansion in downtown Charleston among other local inns were listed as top hotels in the United States in a ranking by U.S. News & World Report.

Charleston is ranking high on top tourism lists again.

The U.S. News & World Report ranked the Wentworth Mansion No. 14 in a list of 169 best hotels in the United States.

The Palmetto State was well-represented in the national publication's ranking. The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island, French Quarter Inn, Planters Inn and The Restoration on King all made the cut.

Bluffton's The Inn at Palmetto Bluff came in second place, behind The Lodge at Sea Island in Sea Island, Ga.

In its list of top ten hotels in South Carolina, U.S. News named eight Charleston inns.

"Having the seal of approval from U.S. News and World Report is an incredible honor for not one but two of our inns in Charleston, S.C," said Linn Lesesne, spokeswoman for Charming Inns. The local hospitality group operates the Wentworth Mansion and the John Rutledge House Inn, which ranked No. 10 among Palmetto State hotels.
