Charleston-bound JetBlue flight diverted

A Charleston-bound JetBlue flight made an emergency landing in Orlando early Wednesday because of an unspecified mechanical issue, the airline said.

Flight 1130 had left from Fort Lauderdale and was diverted to Orlando International Airport.

“The aircraft landed safely and customers continued on to Charleston on a new aircraft, which departed shortly after 6 a.m. this morning,” JetBlue said in a statement Wednesday.

The carrier has been offering nonstop service to Fort Lauderdale from Charleston International Airport since May.
