Boeing Co. today donated $181,000 to support a business-focused program for teachers that's run by the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce's Education Foundation.
The grant was announced the chamber's annual Business Education Summit held at Trident Technical College.
The money will go to a program called STEM, short for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. The initiative was created to ensure the region has a steady pipeline of graduates who have the knowledge and skills that local employers need.
The professional development program is for teachers in Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester county school districts.
