AT&T’s Internet, phone and cable service in Mount Pleasant has been restored to most of those affected by the Tuesday afternoon outage, according to a company spokesman.
The service was disrupted after 3 p.m. Tuesday when a fiber optic line was accidentally cut at a construction site on Chuck Dawley Boulevard, according to AT&T spokesman Josh Gelinas.
The outage affected the communication giant’s U-verse customers, including East Cooper Medical Center.
The hospital relied on a back-up phone system to receive incoming calls during the outage.
Gelinas did not know the number of affected customers but said most had service restored by 2 p.m. Wednesday.
