A new twist to the Cooper River Bridge Run’s Kids Run & Wonder Works Wonderfest event, held on Friday afternoon at Hampton Park, will be a Doggie Fashion Show.

The show will feature adoptable dogs from Pet Helpers with pet clothing from designers Ava Nieves and The Elegant Hare. “Southern Charm” cast member and dog lover Patricia Altschul will serve as emcee for the fashion show, which is expected to start at 2:30 p.m.

The entire event runs from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Friday with the kid’s run warmups starting at 4 p.m. and races at 5 p.m. The races include the “Toddler Waddler,” quarter mile and mile.

The festival and races are free to all who wish to participate, but all are required to register and sign a waiver in order to walk or run.

For those wanting T-shirts and race bibs, registration is $8 from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Bridge Run expo at the Charleston Area Convention Center in North Charleston or $10 from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday at Hampton Park.

Christine Osbourne, owner of Wonder Works and organizer of Wonderfest, said invitations for the Kids Run event have been sent to every teacher of school children in Charleston County. Some are making field trips out of the event.

“It is all about children, for children, and with children. Charleston is definitely like none other,” said Osbourne.

Other activities include youth musical performances by Southbound 17 and The Lauren Hill Band, arts and crafts with Art Buzz Kids, a live magic show by Caleb Alexander, jump castles, pony rides, a petting zoo, climbing wall, face painting and food.
