Pam and D. Michael Wilson of the D. Michael Wilson and Pam Wilson Foundation have pledged to match contributions to Trident United Way's 211 Helpline up to $50,000 between Nov. 30 and Dec. 2.

Trident United Way is calling on community members to help raise $100,000 for the organization's 211 Helpline, according to a Trident press release.

D. Michael and Pam Wilson of the D. Michael Wilson and Pam Wilson Foundation have promised to match contributions to the campaign dollar-for-dollar up to $50,000 through Dec. 2, the release says. The challenge is part of United Way's annual Giving Tuesday event.

The 211 Helpline helps individuals and families access local resources like food, health care services, mental health and other resources available in the Tri-county area, the release says. Calls to the helpline for assistance increased by 24 percent between January and June of this year compared to 2020.

"This is the community in which we live and we feel like we need to support our neighbors and those in need in the community," D. Michael Wilson said in the press release.
