Cones line a Berkeley County road to warn drivers of roadwork in November 2021. The county has unveiled a new set of projects to resurface more than 40 roads throughout the county over the summer of 2022.

Multiple roadway resurfacing projects are underway across the county.

More than 40 roads are in need of resurfacing, with the first 12 projects beginning earlier this month in the Ladson subdivisions of Tall Pines and Willowbrook, according to a Berkeley County press release. All projects are funded by the county's transportation committee.

Banks Construction, which has contracted with the county on the projects, will notify residents who will be impacted by resurfacing work. Though the completion date of each project will depend on weather, county officials expect them to be finished by the end of August.

“Roads continue to be the top concern of our citizens and County Council," supervisor Johnny Cribb said in the press release. "The ‘condition’ of our roads is equally important to ‘congestion’ felt on our roads; and these projects will bring significant improvements to our system and quality of life. We have much work to do and will continue to work diligently to turn available funding into projects that make a difference. I’d like to thank the County Transportation Committee and staff for their continued diligence to address our infrastructure needs.”
