The resolution to commend the Berkeley clerk that council was fighting over is back on the agenda.

A special meeting of the justice and public safety is at 5 p.m. Monday in the county services building, 1003 Highway 52.

The meeting will include a speaker phone for council members who can't make the trip or want to save the county mileage expenses.

Barbara Austin, council clerk for 14 years and immediate past president of the S.C. Clerks to Council Association, retired at the end of June.

She was frequently caught in the middle of council feuds, especially after council started arguing over what to include in the public record of meetings.

The committee was scheduled to consider a resolution honoring Austin at their meeting Monday but adjourned without taking action when the chairman was absent.
