The Aviation Avenue exit on Interstate 26 westbound to Rivers Avenue will be closed Saturday night for construction of a new off-ramp and new right-hand lanes on the freeway, weather permitting.
Westbound motorists should use the Remount Road exit to Rivers Avenue.
The second Aviation Avenue exit that leads toward Charleston Air Force Base as well as the eastbound exit on I-26 will remain open, according to Earl Capps, spokesman for construction contractor U.S. Group Inc.
The interstate is being widened to eight lanes with reconfigured intersections between I-526 and Ashley Phosphate Road. Construction is scheduled to be completed by next June on the three-mile section.
