- The 21st Raleigh Classic will take place at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds, 1025 Blue Ridge Road in Raleigh in the Jim Graham and Exposition buildings. There will be more than 300 collector cars displayed and auctioned. General admission is $10 a day or $15 for a two-day pass. Children are $5 a day, $7 for a two-day pass. Registered bidders, who get in free, can preview cars 8-9:30 a.m. today. The auction takes place 9:30-11:30 a.m. today and 9:30-6 p.m. Saturday. Bidders’ fee is $100. Among the cars on display are a 1947 Buick Roadmaster Convertible Coupe, 1965 AMC Marlin 328-V8, 1941 Cadillac 60 Special Sedan, 1966 Ford Thunderbird and a 1948 Packard Station Wagon. - Coastal Carolina Corvette Club and Mount Pleasant Chevrolet will sponsor an Open Car, Truck and Bike Show 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the dealership, 1607 N. Highway 17 in Mount Pleasant. Day-of-show registration 10-11:30 a.m. is $20 per vehicle. There are 12 classes and 30 trophies. Categories include cars for years 1939 and earlier, ’40-’62, ’63-’71, ’72-’99 and 2000 to present; Corvettes; Mustangs; trucks; street rods; sport compacts; motorcycles; and Camaro/Firebirds. - Karolina Unity Meet of cars, trucks and bikes will kick off a two-day “extravaganza” at Dorchester Dragway, 213 Delee Circle in Dorchester. Large and small auto-enthusiast groups and car clubs from Charlotte, Greenville, Columbia, Charleston, Beaufort, Myrtle Beach, surrounding areas and neighboring states are invited. The People’s Choice car show Saturday is open to all car, truck and bike clubs including imports, domestics, ATVs, go-carts and R/C Cars. Anything, bring ’em out. Share, spread the word, tag a friend. Categories include hot rods; classic cars and trucks; muscle and race cars and trucks; super and exotic cars; cruiser bikes; sport bikes; high riders (donks, ol’ skool); lowriders cars and trucks; squatters, 4 X 4; mini trucks; imports; tuners (Euro, Asian, Korean); and domestic cars and trucks. Gates open at 2 p.m. First-round racing 3 p.m.-until. Test and tune 6-9 p.m. Saturday, 5-8 p.m. Sunday. First place winner gets $500. Purse of $5,000 split between all-wheel drive, rear wheel drive, front wheel drive, Elite and all-motor racers. An Import Drag Racing Association Shoot-Out and first round racing will be Sunday. - The two-day Going for Broke Car, Truck & Bike Show will take place 9 a.m.- 6 p.m. at the Florence County Agricultural Fairgrounds, 5226 E. Palmetto St. in Florence. The indoor-outdoor show is open but geared toward mini-truckers and fabricator builds. Show prices will be $50 with a $25 fee for any electric hookup. Inside competitors will be quality rides only. Outdoor will be $30 for the weekend. Spectators age 12 and under get in free. It’s $5 per day for anyone over 12. Registration fee covers the driver; anyone else will be extra.
