COLUMBIA — The country’s top prosecutor is among guests expected at a gathering to honor civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. at South Carolina’s Statehouse.

The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People says U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder is the featured speaker at the King Day at the Dome rally Monday. NAACP national president Benjamin Jealous is also expected to speak.

The day’s events begin with a prayer service at Zion Baptist Church in Columbia. Participants are then marching six blocks to the Statehouse.

The NAACP is expected to call for more jobs and better educational opportunities, while speaking out against the state’s efforts to require voters to show photo identification at the polls.

The rally takes place just five days before the state’s Republican presidential primary.
