The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' Charleston District is getting a new commander today.

Lt. Col. Edward P. Chamberlayne will take the reins at a ceremony today at The Citadel's Buyer Auditorium.

Chamberlayne replaces Lt. Col. Jason A. Kirk, who completes his two-year term today.

Chamberlayne's last assignment was at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, where he earned a doctorate in industrial and systems engineering.
