Your abandoned photos are stunning, now send us your best ‘Lowcountry after Dark’ photo

By Patrick O'Brien: Photo was taken just outside of Walterboro.

If beauty is in the eye of the beholder then we are definitely beholden to the 45 photographers who sent us pictures for this week’s photo assignment, “Abandoned Lowcountry.’

Wow. Great job, everyone.

So many of the photos were strong enough to be selected as this week’s editor’s pic that we called in several of our photographers to help (nit)pick just one.

After much debate we chose Patrick O’Brien’s photo of an abandoned Colleton County house to appear in Friday’s People section of The Post and Courier.

However, in a nod to just how strong the competition was, we also selected a second photo to appear in the newspaper. Make sure you pick up Friday’s edition to see which photo it was and to read what the editors liked about them.

Next week’s assignment: “Lowcountry After Dark.”

The rules:

- Send just one (1) photograph to yourphotos@postandcourier.com by noon on Tuesday, Feb. 3. Include your name, town and where the photo was taken. If you send us multiple photos we will select one randomly.

- We will allow photographs with reasonable watermarks to run in the gallery but for the winning photo that runs in the newspaper we must have a photo that does not have a watermark. If you want to send us one with the watermark (to run online) and one without (to possibly run in the newspaper) please feel free.
