3-year-old in hospital after being struck Saturday in Colleton County

A 3-year-old boy was flown to a hospital with life-threatening injuries Saturday night after being run over by a pickup truck in Colleton County, according to officials.

The crash was an accident, according to a report from the Colleton County Fire and Rescue Department. Crews were called to the scene in the 900 block of Logan Farm Road after someone called 911 at 9:40 p.m. to report a “low-speed accident that occurred in a yard.”

The small child was carried back into the residence after being struck, the report states. Firefighter-paramedics found him on a bed and began treating him in the house.

A medical helicopter flew him to the Pediatric Trauma Center at Medical University Hospital in Charleston. The Sheriff’s Office and SC Highway Patrol are investigating the accident. The condition of the boy was unknown Monday.
