North Charleston police are investigating an alleged kidnapping that reportedly happened on Aviation Avenue.
Shortly before 2 p.m. Friday, officers responded to the area of Twitty Street in reference to a victim reporting she had been kidnapped.
The victim alleges she answered an ad on Craigslist to purchase a cell phone from a woman. The agreed upon place to meet was the Waffle House on Aviation Avenue.
According to the victim, she was approached by a black male suspect approximately 6-feet 1-inches tall and weighing 200 pounds. At gunpoint, the man forced the woman into the vehicle’s driver seat and told her to “slide over”. He then drove her car towards the Russeldale neighborhood.
The victim was told to get out of the vehicle near Twitty Street and the suspect fled the area. The victim was able to flee to a nearby house and use a cell phone to call police. A short time later the victim’s vehicle was located outside of an apartment complex on Kerry Street. The victim was not injured.
