West Ashley town hall with Charleston police set for next week

A town hall meeting will be held in West Ashley next week in an effort to beef up communications between police officers, residents and the business community.

The Charleston Police Department will host the meeting in conjunction with “Stand Up Charleston,” an effort urging residents to help the authorities prevent and solve crimes. It will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Nov. 12 in an open house format at Ashley River Creative Arts Elementary School, 1871 Wallace School Road.

The purpose of the meeting is to build relationships, distribute informational fliers about making the city a safer place to live and introduce residents and businesses to the patrol officers in their area. The police department will share some of its strategies and successes used to decrease violent crime and allow participants to write questions to panelists at the meeting.
