As temperatures in the Charleston area continue to drop, several shelters will be open tonight and Thursday night for those needing a warm place.

Crisis Ministries at 573 Meeting St. in Charleston and The Palmetto House at 107 Elks Lodge Lane in Summerville will offer beds.

Unity Baptist Church at 950 Whipple Road in Mount Pleasant will accept guests for the night from 6 to 9 p.m. Guests are asked to bring blankets. Volunteers will provide hot chocolate and coffee but no food.

Hibben United Methodist Church at 690 Coleman Blvd. in Mount Pleasant will open its learning center behind the Oops store from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m.

Antioch Community Ministries at 1250 Central Ave. in Summerville will offer a warming center with no beds. Doors will be open from 5 to 9 p.m. and people can stay until 9 a.m.

The Charleston County Sheriff's Office will offer beds, showers and food at the work camp on Leeds Avenue. No background checks will be conducted.

CARTA will provide free bus transportation to the work-camp shelter. Buses will loop throughout the night from Meeting and Columbus, Meeting and Lee, Meeting and John, the McDonald's at 230 Spring St., across from TriCounty Family Ministries at 3349 Rivers Ave. and Goodwill at 6607 Rivers Ave.
