VIDEO: Charleston mourns the victims at Emanuel AME

Sisters Margaret Kerry, (left to right) Mary Thecla and Kathleen Lang, with the Daughters of St. Paul, recite scripture and pray Friday morning in front of Emanuel AME Church for the nine shooting death victims.

On Wednesday, June 17, 2015, Dylann Roof opened fire on a prayer group meeting at Emanuel AME Church in downtown Charleston. Nine people died.

In the wake of the shooting, the Charleston community has come together to support Mother Emanuel, as it is known. A memorial outside the church has continued to grow every day.

Lilian Smalls of Charleston spoke to The Post and Courier about the shooting and what the church means to her.
