Victims in S.C. Highway 61 crash ID’d

A 57-year-old Hanahan man and a 21-year-old Johns Island man were killed Wednesday in a wreck on S.C. Highway 61.

Kenneth Stanley of Belvedere Drive was the driver of a Toyota Camry that crossed the center line while traveling north near Middleton Place and hit another vehicle head on, Dorchester County Coroner Chris Nisbet said.

Ronald Nicolas Salas Rodriguez of River Road was the driver of the other vehicle, a 2003 Mazda. He also died at the scene.

The crash occurred around 4:30 p.m., according to the Highway Patrol. The Camry driver was not wearing a seat belt, according to the report.

The Mazda driver was wearing a seat belt. Two passengers in the Mazda, both wearing seat belts, were flown to Medical University Hospital, according to the Highway Patrol. Their conditions are unknown.
