Local drivers can expect traffic along the Charleston interstate routes into West Ashley and Johns Island to be held up later tonight as Vice President Joe Biden is expected in town.

Biden is a regular visitor to Kiawah Island, including for Easter.

If previous routine is followed, his plane is expected to land on the Charleston Air Force Base side of the International Airport after 6 p.m.

Biden’s official schedule indicates that at 4:15 p.m. he and President Obama will be with Treasury Secretary Lew in Oval Office in a meeting closed to press. It is his final event of the day.

Biden has no announced public schedule for Friday.
