One of two people struck by a vehicle Saturday on King Street has died from injuries received in the incident, Charleston police said.
Dispatchers received a call shortly before 7 p.m. from the area of the Recovery Room Tavern, 685 King St.
The venue is near the Engel Street intersection. A witness reported seeing Charleston police and firefighters at the scene.
Police spokesman Charles Francis said two pedestrians were transported to Medical University Hospital following the incident. One of them later died, he said.
The Charleston County Coroner’s Office did not release the identity of the person killed Saturday. The condition of the second person also was not released.
The driver has not been cited, Francis said and the incident remains under investigation.
