Folly Beach police are investigating vandalism at the island’s post office.
Patrons discovered Sunday that a number of mailboxes had been forced open. A business card from Detective Ron Avallone said “P.O. scene processed” and “reported break ins” and was dated 7/8/12.
A number of boxes with broken locks were open, many with visible signs that they had been forced. The black dust that’s used for checking for fingerprints was around many of the locks and on the floor. It’s not clear what was taken out of the boxes. A message left for Public Safety Director Dennis Brown was not returned Sunday.
