Two fatal motorcycle accidents reported in Charleston area

Two motorcycle riders were killed in separate accidents in the Charleston area within a few hours of each other.

About 9:40 p.m. Thursday, a motorcycle went off the road and hit a tree on South Morgans Point Road near the KOA campground, according to Mount Pleasant police. The rider was heading north when the bike went off the road.

The Charleston County Coroner’s Office identified the rider as Daniel Bryan, 55, of Mount Pleasant. He died at the scene, Deputy Coroner Kimberly Rhoton said.

About 2 a.m. Friday, a motorcycle rider was killed when his bike went off the road on U.S. Highway 17-A north near Mail Route Road, which is between Moncks Corner and Jamestown.

The rider was Alexander Lomazzo, 39, of Moncks Corner, Berkeley Coroner Bill Salisbury said.

Lomazzo ran off the left side of the road and hit several trees, Salisbury said. He was pronounced dead at the scene from head trauma. He was not wearing a helmet, Salisbury said.
