Separate house fires in Berkeley and Colleton counties displaced two families late Friday and early Saturday, according to fire officials and the American Red Cross.

A mobile home fire at 10:30 p.m. Friday on Royle Road in Ladson left two adults homeless, and a house fire at 5 a.m. Saturday on Francis Street in Walterboro left a family of seven without a home.

No one was injured in either blaze, according to fire officials at C&B Fire Department in Berkeley County and Colleton County Fire and Rescue.

The Red Cross provided those displaced with housing in nearby hotels, money for food and clothes, personal hygiene items and referrals to its partner agencies.

Since July 1, the agency has helped 129 people affected by disasters such as fires in its seven-county Lowcountry region.
