Charleston police charged three people in connection with an armed robbery outside a restaurant in West Ashley.

Married couple Michelle Head, 39, and Glen Head, 40, and their roommate Marc Raymond Nelson, 35, all of Castle Avenue, are charged with two counts of armed robbery, police spokesman Charles Francis said. Nelson faces an additional charge of first-degree assault and battery, he said.

Glen Head and Nelson are accused of robbing two people as they sat in their vehicle while leaving Outback Steakhouse on Sam Rittenberg Boulevard, Francis said.

The men, who were armed with a baseball bat, punched the vehicle’s passenger several times in the face and stole a debit card, Francis said. The two men escaped in a vehicle driven by Michelle Head, he said.

A witness recognized two of the suspects as his former roommates and told police where to find them, Francis said.

Shortly after the robbery, police arrested the three suspects as they arrived back at their home.

Glen Head and Michelle Head are being held at the Charleston County jail pending $400,000 bail, court records show.

Nelson is being held pending $500,000 bail, records show.
