What: The Charleston Museum will host a lecture by museum director Carl P. Borick, entitled “Tactical Success and Strategic Failure: The British in South Carolina, 1780” in conjunction with American Revolution Week. The British won two of their most resounding victories of the Revolutionary War in Charleston and Camden in 1780. Despite these victories, they were still unable to subdue the rebellious patriots, and events in South Carolina ultimately contributed to their defeat at Yorktown the following year. Join Borick as he discusses whether the British could have ever succeeded in South Carolina. This event is free and open to the public, with no ticket or reservation required.
