What: Brown Bag Series: “Discovering the Spirit of an Activist: I. DeQuincey Newman and South Carolina's Changing Racial Climate.” In this presentation, Dr. Sadye Logan, of the University of South Carolina’s College of Social Work, will discuss topics from her recent book, “The Spirit of an Activist: The Life and Work of I. DeQuincey Newman.” Rev. Newman was an activist and politician who worked to change South Carolina’s racial climate during the civil rights movement of the 20th century.

What: Charleston Restaurant Week begins this week and participating restaurants will offer a separate fixed price dinner menu, which will showcase their best dishes at discounted prices. Several restaurants will offer lunch options. Smart phone apps are also available.

What: Enjoy an evening under the stars at the Climbing Wall, for ages 16 years and older. Equipment is not included in climbing fee; bring your own headlamp/flashlight. The 50-foot wall features more than 4500 square feet of climbing space, including 14 top ropes and two lead climbing walls.
