South Carolina winter beaches are great places to hunt for keepsakes. Today, participants can collect and learn to identify shells with a chaperone at Kiawah Beachwalker Park.

What: Winter is a great time to explore the beach, gather a few keepsakes, and learn to identify different types of shells and the organisms that create them. A registered and paid chaperone is required for participants ages 15 and under.

What: Enjoy an afternoon munching on Bulls Bay oysters, BBQ, burgers and sweets while listening to live music from Danielle Howle, Mark Brian, the Lincoln Middle/High School Steel Band, Occasional Milkshake with Doug Jones, Sun-dried Vibe and the Red Dog Ramblers. There will also be a silent auction and beer and wine for purchase. Bring a lawn chair to enjoy the tunes and a knife and gloves for the all you can eat oysters. Proceeds benefit Friends of Coastal South Carolina, an organization dedicated to conserving the natural resources along the South Carolina coast.
