Thieves have been smashing windows and robbing cars outside Moncks Corner churches during Sunday morning services lately.

Berkeley Baptist Church on U.S. Highway 52, Oakley Road Church of God on Oakley Road and Gateway Community Church on U.S. Highway 17A were hit Sunday, according to reports from church members and the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office.

Macedonia Christian Church on Betsy Hole Road reported similar thefts two weeks ago. Another area church also was hit around that time, though the name of that church was not available Monday.

Investigators are looking into the possibility that the break-ins are connected, but no definitive link has been established, Sheriff's Office spokesman Dan Moon said. There have been no arrests in any of these crimes, he said.
