A 14-year-old boy was charged earlier this month after allegedly bringing an air pistol to a Goose Creek school and threatening to shoot a 13-year-old girl with it.
The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office responded Sept. 1 to Sedgefield Middle School on Charles B. Gibson Avenue after a report of a student with a gun.
A teacher informed the assistant principal at the school that the student had been carrying a black pistol in his book bag, according to an incident report from the Sheriff’s Office. Upon searching the bag, officials found a black air pistol and a magazine with plastic BB projectiles.
The student, who was not named because he is a minor, was charged with carrying a weapon on school grounds and released to a parent.
The next day, police were provided with a statement from a 13-year-old girl reporting the boy had displayed the weapon to her, told her it was real and that he was going to shoot her, according to the report.
The boy also was charged with third-degree assault and battery.
A Sedgefield Middle School spokesperson did not return a message for comment.
