Suspect in Meeting Street robbery arrested

Scotty Simmons

Police say they have arrested one of three suspects who robbed three men Sunday in a Meeting Street apartment.

Scotty Orlando Simmons Jr., 18, of Dalton Street in North Charleston is charged with three counts of armed robbery, three counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime and entering with intent to steal.

Around 1:30 p.m., Simmons and two other men started a conversation with a man walking on Hanover Street, walked with him to an apartment in The Courtyards on Meeting and robbed him and two others inside, according to the incident report from Charleston police.

At the time, Simmons was out of jail on $5,682 bail after being arrested in December and charged with grand larceny, a general-sessions court offense, and reckless driving with no license, according to Charleston County jail records.
