Gunfire outside a North Charleston nightclub sent a man to jail early Tuesday.

A security guard for Honey Beez at 4540 Rivers Ave. told police he was checking the parking lot around 2:45 a.m. when somebody in a dark gray or blue sedan on Rivers Avenue starting shooting at him, according to the incident report from North Charleston police.

The guard told police he returned fire as he was backing up looking for cover and heard somebody cry out, “I’m hit.”

Police found staff at Roper Northwoods helping a wounded man out of a gray Toyota sedan with several bullet holes in it. He had been shot in an ear, according to the report.

Officers said they found .40-caliber and two different types of 9 mm shell casings outside the club.

Xavier Terrill Walker, 30, of Elms Spring Road in North Charleston was charged with attempted murder. He was being held in the Charleston County jail on Tuesday.
