More than 200 survivors of homicide victims are expected to gather Saturday at an annual picnic.

The 16th annual Survivors of Homicide Support Group Picnic will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at North Charleston Riverfront Park. The event gives families and friends of homicide victims the chance to get together “in a non therapeutic environment, gain strength from each other and bond with those who truly know what they are going through,” according to a Tuesday news release.

There will be food and activities for all ages at the picnic and photos of loved ones lost to homicide displayed on a table. Transportation may be available for survivors if they call 843-792-2945, 843-745-2251 or 843-745-2250.

The event is sponsored by the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office and MUSC Crime Victims’ Center and hosted by the North Charleston Police Department Victim Services.
