Surveillance photo leads to arrest of Goose Creek robbery suspect

Roddy Lee Russell

A tip from a surveillance photo led to an arrest in a Goose Creek drugstore robbery.

Roddy Lee Russell, 36, of Mossy Oaks Avenue is charged with armed robbery and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.

A man walked into the CVS pharmacy on St. James Avenue about 9:15 a.m. Saturday, showed a gun and left with about four bottles of prescription drugs, according to the incident report from Goose Creek police. Later that day, police released a surveillance photo of a suspect wearing a black baseball hat with a White Sox logo.

That night, a woman called police after seeing the photo and said the man was her husband, Goose Creek Police Capt. John Grainger said. An investigator talked to Russell and arranged his surrender.

Russell was being held in the Berkeley County jail on $130,000 bail.
