Sunny days ahead: Weather Service to forecast beach, surf for summer

Beachgoers swarm the sand at Folly Beach in 2013.

Surf zone and beach forecasts are back, just in time for 80 degrees and some sun this weekend.

The National Weather Service, Charleston, will renew the seasonal forecasts starting Wednesday. The forecasts are issued twice daily: in the early morning and the afternoon.

The forecasts were delayed somewhat this year because of chilly ocean water and a lack, so far, of “beach day” stretches of weather, the service said in a news release. The information icon can be found at weather.gov/chs.
