Summerville student who was hit by car ran into road, police report

The Summerville elementary school student who was hit by a car Monday morning ran into the road trying to catch her bus, according to Summerville police.

The 7-year-old girl was unconscious when help arrived and taken to a hospital. A report on her condition has not been released.

The girl was hit about 6:49 a.m. by a 2015 Nissan Altima at Parkwood Drive and Germantown Road, Capt. Jon Rogers said. The driver told police she didn’t see the child. A witness told officers she saw the child run from her front yard into the road after missing the bus pickup at Germantown Road and Craig Court.

The case remained under investigation Tuesday.
